Many humanitarian nonprofits (including Slovak NGDO platform Ambrela – the main organizer of ADF) are planning to attend the second edition of the European Humanitarian Forum taking place from Monday 20 to Tuesday 21 March 2023. The event will be held in the EGG Conference Centre in Brussels and web-streamed on this website.
The Forum, co-organised by the European Commission (DG ECHO) and Sweden in the framework of its Presidency of the Council of the EU, will take place in the context of sharply increasing humanitarian needs, changing geopolitical realities, and shrinking humanitarian space, as well as shrinking civic space in humanitarian action.
Humanitarian needs have reached unprecedented levels. With 339 million people around the world requiring lifesaving humanitarian assistance, 1 in every 23 people on the planet needs emergency assistance to survive.
The war in Ukraine, the global rise in food prices, and the ever more acute impact of climate change have further exacerbated the situation even further. While the gap between needs and available resources continues to expand, the room for humanitarian action is under threat.
The 2023 edition of the European Humanitarian Forum will offer an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation and partnership among countries affected by the crises, donors, international stakeholders, the EU, and its Member States.
Through high-level discussions, political debates and practical workshops, the Forum will serve to jointly put forward innovative, sustainable, and efficient approaches to address the current challenges of the humanitarian world. More info about #EHF2023 to be found here.
