International affairs and development cooperation expert, Head of the EU foreign and development policy team at the European Centre for Development Policy management (ECDPM)
Dr Alexei Jones is an international affairs and development cooperation expert, and head of the EU foreign and development policy team at the European Centre for Development Policy management (ECDPM). His expertise includes the EU’s external financing instruments, the programming of EU aid, as well as the EU and member states working together. He has a strong track record of advising EU institutions and member states, including EU presidencies and other stakeholders on policy formulation, institutional processes and strategic negotiations. Before joining ECDPM, Alexei worked as an independent consultant, policy officer at the European Commission, University lecturer, and visiting researcher in Africa. Alexei has an academic background in international law, development economics and politics. He holds a PhD in Public International Law and Development Studies from the University of Nice – Sophia Antipolis (France).
