Assistant Shelter Cluster Coordination Officer and Sub-national Shelter Cluster Coordinator for the North Hub at Shelter Cluster Ukraine
Anastasiia Chornii, currently serving as the Assistant Shelter Cluster Coordination Officer and Sub-national Shelter Cluster Coordinator for the North Hub at Shelter Cluster Ukraine. Her work focuses on the North Hub area, particularly in Sumy, Chernihiv, and neighbouring 5 oblasts. As a sub-national coordinator, she oversees operational activities, such as humanitarian repairs, using data from state programs and partner reports to identify assistance gaps. She collaborates closely with Ministry and Oblast authorities to coordinate winter response activities, particularly energy initiatives, and supports the programming and delivery of shelter-related training for cluster members and local partners.
Anastasiia started her career as a linguist, and in 2019 got a PhD in Linguistics and in 2021 she started her professional humanitarian career as a Grants Technical Officer with the Norwegian Refugee Council, where she have got experience in managing large-scale projects, collaborating with international partners, and overseeing program development and reporting in both the humanitarian and cultural sectors. This year, she completed a Humanitarian Shelter Coordination Training (HSCT), a master-level short course accredited by Oxford Brookes University in Geneva.
Anastasiia coordinates activities of Shelter Cluster partners, including UN agencies, INGOs, NNGOs, and local authorities, by organising regular sub-national Shelter Cluster meetings. She facilitates regional Shelter and NFI cluster meetings involving various local authorities, ensuring alignment with state programs and humanitarian needs. She also contributes to critical humanitarian response tools such as the Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) and the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) for the North Hub.
